Yamaha registers 42% growth in April

New Delhi, May 1st, 2010: Spurred by new launches and enhanced consumers’ confidence, India Yamaha Motor has registered growth in sales of 42% during April 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 24960 units in April 2010 as against 17576 units sold in April last year. In domestic markets, the company sold 16861 units in April 2010 as compared to 15120 units in the same month last year. The export figures stood at 8,099 units in April 2010 while 2,456 units were exported in April 2009.

“Our product line-up and improving consumer sentiments amid a pick-up in overall economic activity have helped us grow our sales consistently in domestic as well as export markets. We are confident that our recent product launches including entry level YBR 110 and refreshed FZ16 & FZ-S deluxe segment bikes will further lift the sales in the coming months. We will complement these with our various marketing initiatives including Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS), R15 Championships events etc. along with expansion of dealer network to further bolster our foothold in the Indian market”, said Mr. Koji Arai, Director & Chief Sales Officer , India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd.

Yamaha has recently launched YBR 110 in entry level space and refreshed its FZ series line-up (FZ16 & FZ-S) within 150cc+ segment. YBR 110 is targeted at middle income class people looking for a stylish and comfortable commuter bike. It has an electric start engine, sharp graphics, ergonomic seat design, excellent handling and is very competitively priced at Rs. 41,000/- (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

The company has added new color schemes and graphics in FZ-S & FZ16 to add more zing to their appeal. The new FZ-S is now available in Black Cyber Green, Silver Tech and Sport Electric Blue colors while new FZ16 will come in Lava Red and Midnight Black. The all new stylish graphics and change in the color of some body parts compliment the overall macho expression of these bikes. Further, Yamaha has incorporated new logo which gives these bikes more masculine feel. The new FZ-S and FZ16 are priced at Rs. 67,000/- & Rs. 65,000/- (Ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
