Riding on the success of Yamaha’s R15 Championships since 2008, Yamaha added another event to its impressive racing calendar as it organized YAMAHA R15 One Make Race Championship – Season 2010. The 5 leg championship was being organized as part of SIDVIN-FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2010 and leg 1 was held this weekend on 5th – 6th June 2010 at Madras Motor Race Track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
The total number of participants in Novice Class were 86 and Expert Class were 13.
The Qualifying Rounds for Novice Class were held on 4th June 2010. Out of 86 participants, 15 were selected on the basis of the best lap times. Another 5 Wild card entries were selected through a lucky draw.
Best Lap: 1:18.2, (No. 5) Deepak Papineni
The Qualifying Round for Expert Class was held on 5th June 2010. Out of 13 participants, 11 qualified for the final race.
Best Lap: 2:11.039, (No. 11) R Deepak.
In the Novice Race 1, G. R. Santosh from Bangalore stole the limelight with the 1st rank. Deepak Papineni was 2nd and Kishore from Neyveli was 3rd.
Best Lap: 1:18.576 (96.2 km/hr), (No. 3) G.R. Santosh
In the Novice Race 2, Bharath Raj was 1st, G. R. Santosh was 2nd and Sai Kishore was 3rd.
Best Lap: 1:12.047 (184.9 km/hr), (No. 23) Jeeva Reddy
In the Expert Race 1, R. Deepak was 1st, Shyam Shankar was 2nd and Sudhakar Kesavan was 3rd.
