That element is also pursued vigorously in countries worldwide where Yamaha has production bases. In order to raise each of those bases to a uniformly high level, improvements in production management technology are being promoted at the bases in each country. At the same time, we have established a system of international division of manufacturing, and a global information network has been set up to make crosstrading possible. Under the System Supplier (SyS) structure, development, production and supply are consolidated into one functional unit, doing away with barriers in the manufacturing structure, thus bringing about improved quality, a shortening of lead time in development, and reductions in cost.
